If you are looking for a cleansing balm dupe to properly take off your makeup when your favourite one is the Then I Met You Cleansing Balm, but it's sold out and not available or too expensive; then you have come to the right place.
To be honest no rinse off product is worth almost $40 in my opinion. It contains a bunch of fancy and obscure plant oils, but they don't stay on your skin long enough to impart any benefit. I mean, it has contact with the skin for 1 minute then it literally gets washed down the drain. I don't believe in spending more than $35 on cleansing products, the majority of the money within a skincare routine should go to leave on products for obvious reasons. There are great cleansers available for less than $38, and it’s all personal preference.
In my opinion, spending money on treatments such as serums will probably be better. I know this because I’ve used $64+ cleansing products in the past purely because of how nice they feel (I’m looking at you, Elemis and Shu Uemura). I’ve found cheaper products that work well if not better: Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil, Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, Banila Clean It Zero, CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser plus more! and i will be reviewing them as you read on. Without further ado, let's dive in

Best Then I Met You Cleansing Balm Dupes
Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
On alternate days this is my favorite makeup remover! Clinique take the day off cleansing balm. This is full size. I swear I’ve been using it for about a year, i wear makeup a few times a month sometimes. It dissolves all of the makeup fast just like the Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm and makes it easy to wash off. Especially on the eye makeup since I use heavy eyeliner hidden by my mono lids and waterproof mascara. I follow up with glossier milky jelly cleanser.
This cleansing balm is oil based. One of the very best makeup removers in the market! They sell a mini too if you wanna try it out first! Effective, gentle on the skin and fragrance free. An amazing product.

BANILA CO NEW Clean It Zero Original Cleansing Balm
The packaging is very cute, but not in a cheap looking way. The bit that holds he actually product feels very sturdy and expensive, not quite something I expected from a $22 product! Inside the box you have an authenticator to assure you that your product is real, I'm assuming, as well as a little plastic top that goes between the screw-on lid and your balm. The plastic top has two indents that hold a mini spatula which you use to scoop out the product. Overall, the packaging is a 10 out of 10.
The product melted wonderfully in my hands, think the consistency of coconut oil just above room temperature. A little bit goes a very long way, just one scoop from the spatula gave me a full face of cleansing! When researching, I saw some people say that its filmy and terrible to remove, but I believe they were doing it wrong--after use, it easily removes with a warm, damp towel.
Note - Do not rub too hard, especially around the nose, because you could risk getting broken capillaries. A gently touch is all you need! Mine just came in the mail today! Extra excited to try it out now.
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser is my holy grail go-to double cleanser for a long time - it completely minimized my type two bumps and always kept my skin clear. I specifically like the pump bottle, and the hydrating and moisturizing aspect of it. I love it, have been using it for almost 2 years and not stopping anytime soon. My skin is oily/dehydrated/sensitive and this cleanser really helps it.
I’ve used so many different oils and the CeraVe easily washes it off. Sometimes in the shower I like to leave it on my face for a minute or two just to let it soak in and it doesn’t sting my eyes at all. This is an affordable dupe for Then I Met You Cleansing Balm.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
I like the Elemis balm, it wasn’t stripping and it seemed to get makeup off, even when my face was already wet. However there was a strong minty scent that made my eyes burn, so I couldn’t use it on my eye makeup.
The few times I did, there was a little more effort to take off my mascara. Then i used it a few times a week and it left my skin dewy, moisturized and glowing. No breakouts or anything. Though it is more expensive than the Then I Met You Cleansing Balm, it is a good cleanser if you don't mind scents.
